Dr. Rüdiger Berlich has studied physics at the University of Bochum in Germany. He has served as founder and Managing Director of SuSE Linux AG's UK office (SuSE Linux Ltd.) near London. Before he moved to the UK, he was Technical Manager of SuSE's US office in Oakland, California. Rüdiger has worked as a researcher and trainer in the field of Grid- and Cloud-Computing at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology for close to 12 years, and has now over 20 years experience in optimization procedures and modelling complex systems. His professional interests also include management sciences and everything "Open Source". Rüdiger holds an MBA, covering the topic of Open Source business models.
Dr. Sven Gabriel has studied chemistry at the Rheinisch-Westfälische-Technische Hochschule Aachen. In 2001 he obtained his Ph.D. in Theoretical Chemistry, where he worked on methods to simulate Circular Dichroism Spectra of bio-organic compounds. Afterwards he started working on climate reaseach at the Institut für Meteorologie und Klimaforschung at Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe, making use of satellite trace gas concentration measurements for atmospheric modelling. Since beginning of 2005 he is involved in the LHC Grid Computing project, working first for GridKA, the German Tier 1 computing center, and currently at the Tier 1 center Nikhef, the Dutch National Institute for Sub-atomic Physics.
Dr. Ariel García has studied physics at the Balseiro Institute in Bariloche, Argentina. Since he finished his Ph.D. in Quantum Field Theory and Mathematical Physics, he has worked as a researcher at the Centre de Physique Théorique in Marseille, France, and at the Max-Planck-Institut für Physik in Munich, Germany. From 2002 until 2013 he has worked as a researcher and developer in the fields of Grid- and Cloud-Computing, as well as Big-Data at the Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (formerly Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe), where he has been involved in the CrossGrid, GermanGrid, g-Eclipse, and Large Scale Data Facility projects.
